Where Empathy Meets Action: The Path to Mental Wellness with Kyle Kittleson

Where Empathy Meets Action: The Path to Mental Wellness with Kyle Kittleson

Welcome to When Not Yet Becomes Right Now, the podcast where we dive deep into those pivotal moments of transformation in our life journeys – the times when hesitation fades, and we take that crucial first step, even if it feels like a leap. These are the moments where growth and healing truly begin.
I'm your host, Jen Ginty, and my own path to creating this podcast came from a powerful realization: my story of pushing off my healing journey from childhood trauma was just one path among countless others. For years, fear kept me saying "not yet" to addressing my complex PTSD and major depressive disorder, as I navigated high school, college, starting a career, and raising my two boys as a single mom. It wasn't until a new trauma - losing my shop and facing bankruptcy - that my brain declared, "right now you have to look at this," forcing me to confront what I had long avoided. That "right now" moment initiated a journey of therapy, learning coping skills like DBT, and even creating My Moody Monster®, a therapeutic doll designed to help cope with big feelings. My mission with this podcast is to share diverse stories of resilience and transformation, so listeners know they are not alone.
In this powerful episode, I have a profound conversation with Kyle Kittleson, a published author and mental health advocate. Kyle bravely shares his journey of resilience following the loss of his mother at a young age, detailing his career transitions and the indispensable role of coping skills in managing trauma.
Our discussion also delves into the significance of empathy in mental health and the crucial role of psychoeducation in therapy. Kyle introduces us to the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), emphasizing how understanding our thoughts and feelings can lead to profound personal growth and healing. Just as we explore on this podcast, Kyle highlights that transformation moments are pivotal in life, serving as turning points that shape our path forward.
